Preteen (4th-5th)
July 3
How can you be kind even when it's hard?
We were created in God’s image. God sent Jesus to show us the best way to be human. But God knew we’d need help. That’s why God sent us the Holy Spirit. With the power of the Spirit, we can produce fruit that points others to Jesus.
Preteens are starting to experience friendships in a new way. They’re beginning to realize that they don’t get along with everyone. This can be difficult for them to navigate, especially when showing kindness. We’ll help preteens discover how to show kindness, no matter who needs it. We start our month in Luke 10:25-37. When the religious leader questioned Jesus about the sorts of people we should love and show kindness to, He told the familiar parable of the Good Samaritan. With this story, Jesus completely changed how people who follow Him should look at showing kindness to others – it’s not just for people we know or like, but for everyone we meet. Bottom Line: Show kindness to everyone. Everyone is someone who God created and loves. We pray that our kids start to realize that everyone deserves kindness. We’ll help them discover simple ways to put God’s love into action with the way they are kind to people they meet. |
