Cathy has a great passion for the Lord and children and has faithfully served as a volunteer in the children’s ministry since arriving in Sumter in 2002. In March 2009, Cathy answer God’s call to become the part-time Children’s Director at CCC.  Cathy has a deep desire to see all children experience God and come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.  Cathy also has a desire to partner with parents and witness them embrace God’s call to be the primary disciplers of their children.   

Cathy is a graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, NC, where she received a Bachelors of Art degree in Art as well as K-12 certification in Art Education.  She taught elementary art for nine years in public schools in Raleigh, NC, and Columbia, SC.  Cathy also worked for one year as the Education Director at the Sumter Gallery of Art.  Over the past five years she has been at home taking care of her young family and working as an artist in her home studio.

Over the years Cathy has loved nurturing student creativity through the visual arts by providing opportunities for all students to experience success and an appreciation for art.  Cathy shares that same desire to nurture all children to know and experience God in a creative and personal way.  Cathy’s ultimate goal in KIDstruction is to introduce kids to a growing, lifelong relationship with Jesus.

Cathy and Toby have four children - Caroline, Brandt, Tatum, and Blythe.
